其他AROFLY and TUL Corporation Expand Sponsorship and Invest in National High School Cycling Talent Nurturing Program

AROFLY, professional manufacturer of bicycle power meter, and TUL Corporation, computer equipment manufacturer, jointly launched the “Flying Seed Nurturing Project” in 2021. The project sponsors Taichung Dajia Junior High School Cycling Team recently achieved good results in the venue competitions at 2022 National Middle School Athletic Games. To help train Taiwan grassroots cycling athletes, AROFLY and TUL will expand the project scope and provide the latest sports science knowledge as well as training programs to the potential cycling groups of Dajia Junior High School and Linyuan Senior High School. With scientific equipment such as bicycle power meters and training platform developed by Taiwan manufacturers to improve cycling skills, the project aims to support Taiwan cyclists to achieve good results in international competitions.

Dajia Junior High School Cycling Team is a constant winner in national competitions. After training with the AROFLY ELITE A1 power meter sponsored by the "Flying Seed Nurturing Project" in 2021, Dajia Junior High School has achieved good results in the 2022 National Middle School Athletic Games venue competitions and won 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals. The team also came 6th in the National Cycling Middle School Road Championship.

Wu Pin-sheng, Founder and Chairman of AROFLY, and Charles Chou, Executive Assistant to CEO of TUL, jointly awarded prizes to encourage the winners of the Taichung Dajia Junior High School Cycling Team.

“Dajia Junior High School Cycling Team has achieved outstanding results after joining the ‘Flying Seed Nurturing Project’. AROFLY will further cooperate with TUL this year to sponsor 13 sets of the latest AROFLY smart training platform (AROFLY i-Pro) to Dajia Junior High School,” said Wu Pin-sheng, Founder and Chairman of AROFLY. “Meanwhile, Linyuan Senior High School is also the cradle of nurturing outstanding Taiwan cyclists. We also invited Linyuan Senior High School to join the ‘Flying Seed Nurturing Project’, and will sponsor 20 new power meters (AROFLY i-Mode) and 3 sets of smart training platform (AROFLY i-Pro).”

“Digitalization of sports performance is the result of recent active development of AI technology. Due to the huge time and cost invested in the research and development process, the related bicycle professional training equipment in the market becomes expensive and unaffordable for public schools. Most coaching methods also lack scientific analysis and statistics,” added Wu Pin-sheng. “Take Dajia Junior High School Cycling Team as an example, Li Wei-cheng, team coach and former national cyclist, could only train students’ physical fitness by running due to limited resources when the team established. Only until close to the competition, they borrowed equipment from other schools to complete the contest. Now, by using AROFLY power meter for training, they can more accurately monitor cyclists’ riding intensity, detect the real-time pedaling power, and design a tailor-made training program for each athlete, bringing the research and development achievements of the technology industry to the grassroots level training.

“The purpose of this training project is to familiarize these athletes of the Internet native generation with scientific training equipment, thus achieving multiplier effect,” said Charles Chou, Executive Assistant to CEO of TUL. “In the future, TUL will continue to invest in corporate social responsibility (CSR). By taking care of the development of grassroots athletes, we hope to support the athletes in winning glory for the country and implement corporate social responsibility with the assistance of high-tech equipment.

AROFLY's latest smart training platform i-Pro.

The core technology of AROFLY bicycle power meter is the "intelligent dynamic pressure technology", which differs from traditional mechanical deformation principle. The technology combines the change in tire pressure caused by pedaling with the patented algorithm to analyze the actual cycling condition by controlling different factors, and improves the accuracy through artificial intelligence learning capabilities. The AROFLY power meter with multi-national invention patents upgrades from the traditional power meter process, which can greatly reduce the training cost of cyclists.

AROFLY power sensor is only the size of a bottle cap. It uses "intelligent dynamic pressure technology" to combine the change in tire pressure caused by pedaling with a patented algorithm to control different factors and analyze the actual cycling condition, and improve the accuracy through artificial intelligence learning capabilities.

Most power meters on the market have relatively high cost as they can only be used in specific models and need to be installed by a technician. AROFLY power meter is easy to install and can be flexibly installed on the rear wheel valve of any bicycle. The APP sets the basic information of riding, which can be done by the cyclists in a very short time. At present, AROFLY power meter has received positive feedback from users in China and the United States, Canada, Germany and other countries. In the future, it will continue to breakthrough and introduce to more countries, complete the global sports business sector, demonstrate Taiwan soft power of MIT, and provide more professional and more value-added auxiliary training products for bicycle fans all over the world.

TCMCConquering Distance with Technology, TUL Corporation Conveys "People-Oriented" Messages of Love and Health

According to statistics from the Ministry of the Interior, the proportion of the elderly in 65 rural villages and towns in Taiwan has exceeded 20%, higher than that of Taiwan which accounts for 14%. The average life expectancy of both genders in rural areas is 10 years less than that in Taiwan. The inconvenience of transportation has resulted in a serious shortage of caregivers and medical resources. Every doctor has to take care of nearly 1,000 elders in rural areas, thus suffering from severe psychological pressure. Disease prevention and management also face challenges, and creates a vicious cycle in the development of rural communities. As a result, senior population in rural communities become a neglected population structure in Taiwan's social development.

“Promoting the well-being of a healthy life with innovative digital technology has always been our concern,” said Ted Chen, CEO of TUL. “We have been cooperating with Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB) since 2018 to integrate biomedicine and information communications. With our advantages in the integration of software and hardware in R&D and manufacturing, we help the biomedical startups to quickly commercialize their products and services which are then delivered to the market. The ultimate goal is to create great benefits for human life.”

In 2021, TUL invited Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB), Digital Humanitarian Association (DHA) and startup WaCare (La Vida Tec) to hold a press conference to announce the “Angel Companion Initiative”. The project aims to promote social care for the rural communities in Taiwan with innovative technology. Pursuing innovation and technology, the program helps conquer distance to convey messages of love and health. It also aims to narrow the resource gap between rural and urban communities in Taiwan, encouraging the elders in rural areas to proactively seek medical treatment and thus improving their health and well-being. Realizing "people-oriented" care, we hope to inspire more companies to join the initiative.

“We are also actively seeking ways to help promote ‘children's mental health development’ with innovative technology,” Ted Chen, CEO of TUL added. “Children with autism are unable to communicate with others or take part in social activities. Parents of autistic children must always be with their children to take care of their special psychological conditions. At the same time, counseling channels are in shortage. We believe that innovative digital technology is a very helpful tool to overcome the psychological distance. Through professional interactive courses on emotional awareness and nutritional care, parents can learn how to bring up autistic children. The courses also help the children blend in with the society.”

Statistics of United Nations indicated that 1% of the world's population suffers from autism. While in Taiwan, survey conducted by Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2021 showed that autistic population grows fastest among various psychological disorders. Traditional surgical procedures or medication only provide limited results. In recent years, the international community has gradually shifted its research focus to studying the intestinal microbiota of patients with autism, and prospective clinical studies have found that intestinal microbes are significantly related to the onset of neurodevelopmental disorders and mental diseases, which also includes autism.

TUL is actively planning to implement care for children with autism with different aspects such as accurate detection of intestinal microbiota, personalized probiotic recommendations, digital psychological consultation, and online interactive courses.

Preliminary achievements of TUL Corporation's investment in social care this year:

Rural Community Care:
Many rural areas in Taiwan, such as Taitung and outlying islands, have problems of inconvenient medical treatment, severely uneven distribution of medical resources, general lack of health awareness and insufficient health education knowledge among local elders, which require more attention and resources from enterprises and the public. TUL donated probiotics to 350 elders from 11 rural communities in Taitung for the purpose of promoting healthy diet. TUL also collaborates with Digital Humanitarian Association to conduct online medical care courses in Dawu, the rural tribe with the least medical resources.

Autistic Community Care:
TUL and WaCare jointly organize digital consultation services, inviting professional psychological counselors and nutritionists to design online course to help parents of autistic children understand more about the domestic care through nutrition, parent-child interaction and emotional management. The first wave has received enthusiastic and widespread response, participated by more than 160 parents. The autism community group also expressed gratitude for companies paying attention to the issues of autistic children and helping the parents.

Next year, we will also expand the adoption of rural communities, construct a health map of rural residents, and provide on-site services; online consultation and interactive courses for autistic groups will continue, and we will organize seminar of parent-child interactive games with the Biotechnology Center. We hope to narrow the distance between autistic patients and the general public with outdoor activities and lively ways.

In addition, TUL also looks forward to creating social value through "people-oriented" social care initiatives, such as improving the health and education knowledge of relevant groups, improving the shortage of care workers in rural areas, and reducing medical and care costs. According to the latest quantitative indicator "Social Input Return-SROI" for sustainable investment in enterprises, it is estimated that more than 1,000 people will benefit each year.

TCMCNBIC of DCB Accelerates Biomedical Research and Development AllBio Science and TCMC Launches a Three-stage Epidemic Prevention Strategy

With the aim to support Taiwan's biotech start-up companies in a more comprehensive way, Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB) operating NanKang Biotech Incubation Center (NBIC) established Digital Health Accelerator Program focusing on biomedical related fields in 2018. In less than two years, AllBio Science which participated in the first Digital Health Accelerator Program has obtained fruitful research and development results. In the face of global anti-epidemic demand in 2020 and the recent crisis of a re-emergence of the pandemic, TUL Corporation's subsidiary Technology Created Medicine Corporation (TCMC) successfully drew up a three-stage epidemic prevention strategy through cooperation with the cross-funded communications and biomedical industries. Through a three-stage strategy of phases, regions and purposes, TCMC independently developed antibody and antigen rapid screening reagent. This will play a key role in the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic, allowing suspected infections to be effectively detected through rapid screening and reducing the spread of the epidemic while tracing the source of the infection.

The Digital Health International Accelerator established by DCB is the first professional accelerator in Taiwan that focuses on the biotechnology and medical field. It not only assists Taiwan's biotechnology start-ups and teams to link domestic and foreign industrial resources, but also accelerates the link between Taiwan's innovation and the international market. AllBio Science is the start-up cultivated by DCB Digital Health Accelerator in the first year. With the accelerator's cultivation mechanism, it assisted AllBio Science in linking up with domestic and foreign industry contacts in a short time, and successfully introduced TUL Corporation's subsidiary TCMC to convey cooperation. The program also led AllBio Science to Boston, a major biotechnology innovation city, for international innovation exchanges. AllBio Science was also selected as one of the Top 3 enterprises of DCB Digital Health International Accelerator 2018 because of its mastery of core technologies in the fields of gene synthesis, protein expression and customized antibodies. In addition, DCB has also continued to guide AllBio Science in connecting important domestic and foreign venture capital, receiving sufficient funds for its operations, and promoted the development of a number of important new immunology products and services,” said Chung-hsiun Wu, CEO of DCB.

The first wave of AllBio Science's epidemic prevention is the rapid screening test reagent for IgG & IgM antibodies. The result can be delivered after 5 to 8 minutes with only a small amount of blood sample to detect the IgG and IgM in the body of COVID-19 infected patients. It is suitable for quickly providing a reference basis for immune system changes during isolation. Through the IRB clinical trial plan, which provided 30 positive and 75 negative serum samples for comparison tests from the National Health Research Institutes Biobank, the test results showed that the positive agreement rate and the negative agreement rate are both 100%. At present, in addition to having obtained the EU CE certification, it has also been approved to be manufactured by Taiwan Food and Drug Administration's epidemic prevention project, and TCMC is entrusted with overseas market sales,” said Chang-wei Li, CEO of AllBio Science.

To increase the comprehensiveness of the rapid screening test, AllBio Science has simultaneously developed the "COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Screening Test Reagent" as the second wave of epidemic prevention. By collecting samples of the nasal mucosa, result can also be delivered after 5 to 8 minutes to detect the presence of viral antigens on the nasal mucosa of the infected person. For sites that urgently need a large number of screenings, such as campuses, factories, airports, etc., the time and labor costs for sending samples to the laboratory can be rapidly reduced, and can be used as the basis for the initial PCR screening of infected persons. The product has entered the pre-review stage of the Food and Drug Administration, and can apply for further approval for manufacturing license after third-party verification data with medical institution is released.

Finally, the third wave of epidemic prevention uses a multiple detection platform, combined with an AllCHECK electronic chip device, and integrates AI smart interpretation and cloud systems. It is a global original "full quantitative" rapid screening detection system. It only takes 5 minutes to detect new coronavirus nucleic acid, antigen or antibody values in human body. It can also be used to analyze the degree of infection based on the values, to exclude false positive and false negative test results that cannot be judged by the naked eyes. Whether the patient has recently been infected with the disease or has recovered with antibodies can be accurately judged. It is an important tool for doctors’ and physicians' follow-up diagnosis. In the future, we look forward to using these three waves to provide a more complete solution for global epidemic prevention.

DCB introduced Digital Health Accelerator to discover and successfully coach AllBio Science. The COVID-19 epidemic prevention has rapidly increased the global rapid screening test market by billions of dollars. AllBio Science's reagent research and development combined with TCMC's overseas market expansion can contribute to the global epidemic prevention and become a model for the creation and cultivation of DCB.

TCMCTCMC as General Agency of AllBio Coronavirus Antibody Rapid Test Reagent, Certified by Taiwan FDA and EU

TUL Corporation's subsidiary Technology Created Medicine Corporation (TCMC) and its technical partner AllBio Life (hereinafter referred to as AllBio) have recently announced the launch of the "AllBio Coronavirus Antibody Rapid Test Reagent". This reagent has recently been approved by Taiwan Food and Drug Administration through clinical testing and evaluation verification for manufacturing and authenticated by EU CE, becoming one of the national team members of rapid antibody screening reagents for in vitro diagnostic (IVD). TCMC will be the sole agency to undertake the first-line epidemic prevention task.

According to TCMC, AllBio has been focusing on the research and development of immunology-related technologies and services for many years, providing professional antibody manufacturers in Taiwan with services such as gene synthesis, protein expression and customized antibodies in the academic circle and industry. AllBio Laboratory has passed international standards test TAF (ISO17025) and P2 plus laboratory certification, confirming its independent research and development, production and sample verification capabilities.

TCMC and AllBio initially cooperated closely in the field of intestinal bacteria detection services. With personalized intestinal bacteria detection and customized probiotics subscription model, they provide one-stop services for genetic testing, data storage, and AI algorithm analysis. After the global outbreak of Coronavirus, the demand for testing has surged. Based on years of experience and technology in developing antibodies, AllBio has successfully developed the "AllBio Coronavirus Antibody Rapid Test Reagent". TCMC and AllBio will continue to join hands to fight the epidemic.

TCMC stated that antibodies are produced in the human body after being infected with the virus. The antibody test can therefore provide information on whether the subject has been infected. In order to improve the practicability and versatility, the detection reagents developed by AllBio use two different antibodies, IgG and IgM, and adopt a dual cassette detection design to avoid signal interference and thus improve sensitivity.

IgM antibodies will be rapidly produced in the human body within 7 days after being infected with the virus. Testing positive for IgM antibodies represents an ongoing or recent infection. IgG is produced 14 days after infection and stays in the body for a longer period of time. The detection of IgG antibody is used as the basis for infection. If there is a re-infection, it is also a key test indicator to understand the number of infected people, contributing to national epidemic prevention.

The "AllBio Coronavirus Antibody Rapid Test Reagent" uses patented nano-sized gold colloidal particles as the color coating. The result can be delivered after 5 to 8 minutes with only a small amount of blood sample. There is no need to enter a dedicated testing laboratory, and the results are easy to interpret. It is suitable for airports, hospitals, communities and other first-line sites that require rapid and large-scale screening, so as to align with government PCR testing and epidemic prevention measures to build a more complete and safe protection network.

Focusing on the global development trend of digital health, TUL Corporation's subsidiary Technology Created Medicine Corporation (TCMC) actively deploy a cross-domain cooperation ecological chain of technology and healthcare. We are focusing on one stop service for genetic analysis, big data storage and AI applicaton to healthcare.

Chang’s first film production, Midnight Gunshot, failed to release in Taiwan due to a certain reason. In 1996, he wrote and directed “Ah Chung”, a feature film about Ba Jia Jiang (Eight Generals), a religious ceremony in Taiwan. His adoption of nonprofessional actors as main casts drew the attention of international film festivals. In 1999, he directed “Darkness and Light”, in which he again used mostly nonprofessional actors to depict stories of the blind. The influence of film was so enormous that it wrote many records in Tokyo International Film Festival. Afterwards, director Chang shot a Hakka television drama series, and then applied that experience to his next film, “The Best of Times”, in summer of 2002. In 2007, director illustrates the struggle between familial love and humanity in “Soul of a Demon”. To fulfill his father’s wish, “Dad, How are you?” is shot in 2008. His next film work in 2010, “When Love Comes”, broke the record by being nominated for 14 awards, 4 of which were awarded to the film. In 2011, director made a historical war short film, “Sparkles”, and another short film, “Love is Missing”, to pay his tribute to director Hou Hsiao Hsien’s classic A City of Sadness. In 2015, his latest film, “Thanatos, Drunk” is selected into Berlin International Film Festival Panorama Section.
