AROFLY, professional manufacturer of bicycle power meter, and TUL Corporation, computer equipment manufacturer, jointly launched the “Flying Seed Nurturing Project” in 2021. The project sponsors Taichung Dajia Junior High School Cycling Team recently achieved good results in the venue competitions at 2022 National Middle School Athletic Games. To help train Taiwan grassroots cycling athletes, AROFLY and TUL will expand the project scope and provide the latest sports science knowledge as well as training programs to the potential cycling groups of Dajia Junior High School and Linyuan Senior High School. With scientific equipment such as bicycle power meters and training platform developed by Taiwan manufacturers to improve cycling skills, the project aims to support Taiwan cyclists to achieve good results in international competitions.
Dajia Junior High School Cycling Team is a constant winner in national competitions. After training with the AROFLY ELITE A1 power meter sponsored by the "Flying Seed Nurturing Project" in 2021, Dajia Junior High School has achieved good results in the 2022 National Middle School Athletic Games venue competitions and won 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals. The team also came 6th in the National Cycling Middle School Road Championship.
Wu Pin-sheng, Founder and Chairman of AROFLY, and Charles Chou, Executive Assistant to CEO of TUL, jointly awarded prizes to encourage the winners of the Taichung Dajia Junior High School Cycling Team.
“Dajia Junior High School Cycling Team has achieved outstanding results after joining the ‘Flying Seed Nurturing Project’. AROFLY will further cooperate with TUL this year to sponsor 13 sets of the latest AROFLY smart training platform (AROFLY i-Pro) to Dajia Junior High School,” said Wu Pin-sheng, Founder and Chairman of AROFLY. “Meanwhile, Linyuan Senior High School is also the cradle of nurturing outstanding Taiwan cyclists. We also invited Linyuan Senior High School to join the ‘Flying Seed Nurturing Project’, and will sponsor 20 new power meters (AROFLY i-Mode) and 3 sets of smart training platform (AROFLY i-Pro).”
“Digitalization of sports performance is the result of recent active development of AI technology. Due to the huge time and cost invested in the research and development process, the related bicycle professional training equipment in the market becomes expensive and unaffordable for public schools. Most coaching methods also lack scientific analysis and statistics,” added Wu Pin-sheng. “Take Dajia Junior High School Cycling Team as an example, Li Wei-cheng, team coach and former national cyclist, could only train students’ physical fitness by running due to limited resources when the team established. Only until close to the competition, they borrowed equipment from other schools to complete the contest. Now, by using AROFLY power meter for training, they can more accurately monitor cyclists’ riding intensity, detect the real-time pedaling power, and design a tailor-made training program for each athlete, bringing the research and development achievements of the technology industry to the grassroots level training.

“The purpose of this training project is to familiarize these athletes of the Internet native generation with scientific training equipment, thus achieving multiplier effect,” said Charles Chou, Executive Assistant to CEO of TUL. “In the future, TUL will continue to invest in corporate social responsibility (CSR). By taking care of the development of grassroots athletes, we hope to support the athletes in winning glory for the country and implement corporate social responsibility with the assistance of high-tech equipment.
AROFLY's latest smart training platform i-Pro.
The core technology of AROFLY bicycle power meter is the "intelligent dynamic pressure technology", which differs from traditional mechanical deformation principle. The technology combines the change in tire pressure caused by pedaling with the patented algorithm to analyze the actual cycling condition by controlling different factors, and improves the accuracy through artificial intelligence learning capabilities. The AROFLY power meter with multi-national invention patents upgrades from the traditional power meter process, which can greatly reduce the training cost of cyclists.
AROFLY power sensor is only the size of a bottle cap. It uses "intelligent dynamic pressure technology" to combine the change in tire pressure caused by pedaling with a patented algorithm to control different factors and analyze the actual cycling condition, and improve the accuracy through artificial intelligence learning capabilities.
Most power meters on the market have relatively high cost as they can only be used in specific models and need to be installed by a technician. AROFLY power meter is easy to install and can be flexibly installed on the rear wheel valve of any bicycle. The APP sets the basic information of riding, which can be done by the cyclists in a very short time. At present, AROFLY power meter has received positive feedback from users in China and the United States, Canada, Germany and other countries. In the future, it will continue to breakthrough and introduce to more countries, complete the global sports business sector, demonstrate Taiwan soft power of MIT, and provide more professional and more value-added auxiliary training products for bicycle fans all over the world.

“We are also actively seeking ways to help promote ‘children's mental health development’ with innovative technology,” Ted Chen, CEO of TUL added. “Children with autism are unable to communicate with others or take part in social activities. Parents of autistic children must always be with their children to take care of their special psychological conditions. At the same time, counseling channels are in shortage. We believe that innovative digital technology is a very helpful tool to overcome the psychological distance. Through professional interactive courses on emotional awareness and nutritional care, parents can learn how to bring up autistic children. The courses also help the children blend in with the society.”
Statistics of United Nations indicated that 1% of the world's population suffers from autism. While in Taiwan, survey conducted by Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2021 showed that autistic population grows fastest among various psychological disorders. Traditional surgical procedures or medication only provide limited results. In recent years, the international community has gradually shifted its research focus to studying the intestinal microbiota of patients with autism, and prospective clinical studies have found that intestinal microbes are significantly related to the onset of neurodevelopmental disorders and mental diseases, which also includes autism.
TUL is actively planning to implement care for children with autism with different aspects such as accurate detection of intestinal microbiota, personalized probiotic recommendations, digital psychological consultation, and online interactive courses.
Preliminary achievements of TUL Corporation's investment in social care this year:
Rural Community Care:
Many rural areas in Taiwan, such as Taitung and outlying islands, have problems of inconvenient medical treatment, severely uneven distribution of medical resources, general lack of health awareness and insufficient health education knowledge among local elders, which require more attention and resources from enterprises and the public. TUL donated probiotics to 350 elders from 11 rural communities in Taitung for the purpose of promoting healthy diet. TUL also collaborates with Digital Humanitarian Association to conduct online medical care courses in Dawu, the rural tribe with the least medical resources.
Autistic Community Care:
TUL and WaCare jointly organize digital consultation services, inviting professional psychological counselors and nutritionists to design online course to help parents of autistic children understand more about the domestic care through nutrition, parent-child interaction and emotional management. The first wave has received enthusiastic and widespread response, participated by more than 160 parents. The autism community group also expressed gratitude for companies paying attention to the issues of autistic children and helping the parents.
Next year, we will also expand the adoption of rural communities, construct a health map of rural residents, and provide on-site services; online consultation and interactive courses for autistic groups will continue, and we will organize seminar of parent-child interactive games with the Biotechnology Center. We hope to narrow the distance between autistic patients and the general public with outdoor activities and lively ways.
In addition, TUL also looks forward to creating social value through "people-oriented" social care initiatives, such as improving the health and education knowledge of relevant groups, improving the shortage of care workers in rural areas, and reducing medical and care costs. According to the latest quantitative indicator "Social Input Return-SROI" for sustainable investment in enterprises, it is estimated that more than 1,000 people will benefit each year.
