其他TUL Corporation and Taipei City Government Establish an FPGA Teaching Center to Nurture General and Vocational High School Digital Logic Design Talents

To strengthen the cooperation between technical vocational education and the industry, TUL has recently joined hands with Taipei City Government's Department of Education to establish the "Taipei City FPGA Programmable Circuit Application Technology Teaching Center" at Muzha Vocational High School. The three parties signed a memorandum of cooperation on the morning of July 25 at the Opening Ceremony of the Technology Teaching Center. The cooperation includes "introducing FPGA programmable circuit application technology courses", "co-planning school-based technology courses", "providing concessional offers for equipment procurement", "strengthening industry-academy exchanges and cooperation", "assisting in improving teachers' capability", etc.

“In addition to mainly producing AMD high-end professional graphics cards, TUL is also a partner of Xilinx, an industry leader in FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) technology,” said Ted Chen, CEO of TUL. “FPGA is the mainstream technology of modern integrated circuit design verification. It has great potential for development based on several advantages. The internal logic can be repeatedly modified by the designer to adjust the relevant circuit design, the cost of debugging is also low, while the product can be created quickly. In recent years, FPGA has been further widely adopted in various computing acceleration fields.”

“In recent years, TUL has cooperated with National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan Normal University, National Taitung University and other universities to develop FPGA-related technologies and applications,” added Ted Chen. “In the future, TUL will assist Taipei Muzha Vocational High School to introduce the latest industry technology and university resources to the ‘FPGA Programmable Circuit Application Technology Teaching Center’ in Taipei City, conduct winter and summer teachers' empowerment training, hold industry-related student competitions, and co-design courses with teachers in the city in line with industry trends, etc.”

The "FPGA Programmable Circuit Application Technology Teaching Center" jointly established by TUL and Taipei City Government's Department of Education will conduct a 3-day teacher empowerment seminar from August 1 to August 3, 2022, with the theme "PYNQ FPGA Development". TUL invites Professor Chun-Hsian Huang from National Taitung University’s Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering as lecturer, leading teachers to understand the principles and applications of PYNQ in practice. Interested teachers can register at the "Taipei City Teachers’ In-Service Information"(http://insc.tp.edu.tw

Taipei City Government's Department of Education stated that Taipei City has actively promoted various innovative industry-academy cooperation projects since July 18, 2018 when the "Taipei City Technical and Vocational Education Policy Guidelines" were formulated, setting up “Automation Technology Training Center”, “Skills Center for Energy Conservation Education”, “Electric Vehicle Technology Instructional Center”, “Vehicle Technology Instructional Center”, “Smart IoT Technology Teaching Center”, “Industrial Robotics Teaching Center” and “FPGA Programmable Circuit Application Technology Teaching Center”.

To develop the characteristics of technical and vocational education in Taipei City, the city will continue to match technical high schools and the industry to form alliances and develop an industry-academy cooperation platform, create internship opportunities for students, make good use of diversified teachers and cooperate with technology colleges to offer special courses, etc., to strengthen the industry-academy cooperation and improve students' employment ability to meet industry needs. "Creating the Right Match: Work-Based Talent Development Programs " promoted by the Government, industry and academia aims to jointly plan courses and internships to cultivate talents that meet the industry needs through cooperation between schools and the industry.
